Jayne Nakata was asked by Kita Ibaraki City's International Association to support Japanese students heading to New Zealand for study by leading a communication and culture seminar.
Jayne was able to utilise her vast experience working with Japanese students to help them overcome their initial shyness. By the end of the workshop students were bravely practicing the English they have painstakingly learnt in preparation for the trip of a lifetime to New Zealand.
"I really wanted the students to understand that communication takes more than one person. Together you will get to the 'goal' of understanding each other. This does not require perfect grammar or flawless pronunciation. There is nothing more satisfying that successfully communicating with a new friend of a different language or culture".
